Overview
The library is situated on the second floor of the main building, on the same floor as the English and Business Management Departments. It is available for use by all staff and pupils.
The library operates a computerised issue system in conjunction with the public libraries and pupils and staff must be members of the library to borrow resources and books. It is also recommended that pupils register their Young Scot Card (NEC - National Entitlement Card) with the library and this can be used as their library card. If Young Scot Card is lost or damaged, the librarians can order a replacement.
Staff
The library is run by two chartered librarians - Mrs Sandison (who works from Monday to Wednesday ) and Mrs Gammie (who works from Wednesday to Friday).
They are assisted by various 5th and 6th year pupils during certain class times and at lunchtimes.
A careers adviser, Alison Eaglesham, is in the library several days a week and pupils may make an appointment with her to get advice about careers, subject choice and college and university applications.

Borrowing Resources
Most of the resources in the library may be borrowed. Ask the librarians if you are not sure. A library card or Young Scot Card will be required to borrow resources, which are generally issued for three weeks. The return date will be stamped on the date label and all items should be returned on time. If a longer loan period is required, items can be renewed if they have not been requested by another user.
Overdues
Items should be renewed or returned on or before the end of the loan period. If they are not returned on time, an overdue notice will be sent from Library Headquarters in Selkirk. A further two notices will be sent if the item/s are still not returned. The simplest way to avoid this is to renew or return on time.
If a book is lost or damaged, please let the librarians know immediately, so that you can pay for it and avoid overdue notices being sent to your home.
