Finding Fiction Books
Fiction books are made-up stories.
In this library they are shelved in several sections and are coded on the spine (the edge of the book) with a different coloured label for each section. The first three letters of the author's surname are also on the spine of the book.

The books in the Junior, Teenage, Adult and Scottish Writers sections are all arranged in ALPHABETICAL ORDER by the AUTHOR'S (writer's) SURNAME.
The books on the Short Stories and Science Fiction stands are not arranged in any particular order.
If you want, you can just go straight to the fiction sections to choose a book. However, if you want a book by a particular author, it is probably best to use the fiction catalogue to check if we have the book and to see which section it is in.
The fiction catalogue is currently split into different sections as we work towards adding it to computer - you need to check the fiction catalogue on card, the database print out and check WebPAC (follow the link)

Alternatively, ask the librarians at the moment as they have a good idea of the best catalogue to start looking in.
