New Qualifications - Support for Parents and Carers
SQA has introduced a new parent and carer section of its website. It has a range of resources, including
Parent and carer leaflet , to help parents and carers understand the changes to national qualifications
Mythbuster videos answer some of the most common questions
Jargon buster to help explain the terms being used by SQA while developing the qualifications
Chart telling you what qualifications young people will study depending on the school year they are in now.
SQA is also publishing draft documents on the website for feedback as it develops the new qualifications. These include the draft Course Assessment Specifications for National 5. The documents are quite technical and are aimed at teachers and education specialists but SQA also welcomes feedback from parents via Have Your Say – Have your say .
SQA has also recently published draft Unit Specifications for Higher. Feedback on the latest documents can be given until 31 January 2012.
