COMPUTING SCIENCE
Currently the Computing Science Department offer the following courses:
S1 - All pupils take Computing Science in S1 for one period a week as part of their BGE curriculum.
S2 - All pupils take Computing Science in S2 for one period a week as part of their BGE curriculum.
S3 - Pupils may select Computing Science in S3 as part of their choices. This course runs for the whole year and is for 3 periods a week. The 3 main units of this course are: Software Design & Development (Programming - using the language Python), Web Design & Development (in HTML) and Database Design & Development (Microsoft Access DB). Some Computer Systems work will also be covered, so explaining how a computer works. This is all in preparation for choosing N5 Computing Science in S4.
Senior School - Senior school pupils may select Computing Science at the following levels, provided that appropriate prior learning has been covered:
National 5
Higher
Advanced Higher
In addition, we may be in a position to offer the following SQA NPA courses:
